Where is the race located?
All events will take place in Historic Fort Harrison on the northeast side of Indianapolis. Packet pickup will be at the Sterrett Center which is located at 8950 Otis Avenue, Indianapolis, IN 46216. This is one block north of the main intersection of 56th Street and Post Road.
How do I get to the race site on race morning?
Arriving from the North - From I-465 on the East side of Indianapolis, take the East 56th Street Exit (Exit 40). Proceed East on 56th Street 1.5 miles to the Herbert Lord Road traffic light. Turn right (south) at the traffic light and then left into the Bean Center Parking Lot. This way will be very crowded on race morning! Plan your travel to ARRIVE at the race site by 7:15am!! PLEASE DO NOT PLAN TO ARRIVE LATER as traffic will be increasingly heavy the later you arrive.
Arriving from the South - From I-465 on the East side of Indianapolis, take the East Pendleton Pike Exit (Exit 42). Proceed East on Pendleton Pike 2 miles to Post Road. Turn left (north) onto Post Road then proceed ¼ mile, crossing the Railroad Tracks, turn left (west) onto Hess Road then right into the Bean Center Parking Lot.
Arriving from the East - From I-70 entering into the East side of Indianapolis, take the Post Road Exit (Exit 91). Proceed North on Post Road 3.0 miles to Pendleton Pike. Proceed North on Post Road straight through the Pendleton Pike intersection, continue ¼ mile, crossing the Railroad Tracks, turn left (west) onto Hess Road then right into the Bean Center Parking Lot.
Please follow the direction of the Police Officers and parking lot volunteers as they will be directing you to the parking lots that have the quickest traffic flows.
Where should I park on race weekend?
All RACE DAY event parking is FREE and will be in the enormous Major General Emmett J. Bean Center Parking Lot which is on the Southwest Corner of 56th Street and Post Road. This is about a 3 to 7 block walk to the race site. From the Bean Center Parking Lot, proceed to walk North, crossing 56th Street, to get to the race site.
I'm a spectator, where can stop to watch the race?
The RACE SITE is an excellent place to view the race! Besides the exciting start and finish, the participants will come back by the race site along 56th Street at 4.5 miles.
May I upgrade or downgrade my originally registered event?
Yes. If you would like to upgrade to the Half Marathon or downgrade to the 5K, please email register@monumentalmarathon.com or call 317-454-8519 for details. If you downgrade you will not be refunded the difference in events, and if you upgrade you will be required to pay the upgrade difference. You may upgrade/downgrade by email until Monday, September 26, 2016 at 5:00 pm. After that time, upgrades/downgrades will be processed at the Packet Pickup on Friday, October 7th.
What is the registration cutoff to have my name printed on my bib?
You must be registered by 11:59:59 PM on Wednesday, September 21, 2016 to have your name custom printed on your bib number. This is for all participants in the Half and 5K event. If you chose to switch to another distance after the deadline, your name will not be custom printed on your bib.
May I transfer my entry to someone else?
Yes. The person who is taking your place will need to fill out the paper entry form (please contact register@monumentalmarathon.com to get the paper entry form), put your name in the "Transfer of Entry" blank on the form, and submit a $20.00 transfer fee. We must have a signed note from the original registrant included with the form that states they are agreeing to transfer their entry. Completed forms can be mailed to: "Indianapolis Monumental Marathon, 202 E. Market St. Indianapolis, IN 46204. The deadline for submitting transfers is September 19, 2016.

What if I entered the wrong information when I registered or I would like to change something on my registration?
Log into your Eventbrite account at www.Eventbrite.com, choose your event entry, click on the Edit button and make your changes. Please note that changes can only be made through the account of the person who purchased the registrations. If you need to set up an Eventbrite account, make sure you use the email that you purchased the registration under.

May I get a refund for my entry?
No, there are no refunds.
Can I defer my entry?
Per the refund policy in the Indianapolis Half Marathon, 5k and Kids One Mile Run registration, all entries are non-refundable. If you cannot participate due to pregnancy, injury or military deployment, we do offer deferrals to the 2017 running events with proof. Please submit either your doctor's note stating injury/pregnancy or proof of deployment to register@monumentalmarathon.com by September 19, 2016. There is a deferral fee of $20.00.
To remain fair and consistent, deferrals do not extend to anyone besides the injured, pregnant or deployed participant and we must receive proof by September 19, 2016. Deferred entries cannot extend past the following year. No exceptions.
Are there any special offers that come free with my registration?
We plan to produce a 'virtual goody bag' in an effort to go green and provide additional benefits to our participants. Plans are under way for 2016.
Do you offer a Military Discount?
To honor those who serve to protect our freedom, Indianapolis Half Marathon and 5k is proud to offer US Military members, veterans and their families, 10% off the participant registration price. To receive the discount, email or mail a copy of your picture Military ID or a copy of your DD214 to the IMM office. To email, click here and attach your document or mail to Indianapolis Monumental Marathon, 202 E. Market St., Indianapolis, IN 46204. We will then contact you with the promotional code to use when registering.
Where and when is packet pick-up?
Race bibs and packets will be available at the Packet Pick-up on Friday, October 7th from 11:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. Location is at the Sterrett Center by the race site, the address is 8950 Otis Avenue, Indianapolis, IN 46216. The Sterrett Center is located on the northwest corner of Post Road and Otis Avenue, parking is on the north side of the building.
No race packets will be mailed and there is no race day packet pickup.
Can someone else pick up my packet?
Yes. In order for someone to pick up your packet, they must present one of the following:
- Your confirmation email
- A signed note from you stating you are allowing them to pick up your packet OR
- A copy of your driver's license
May I pick up my packet on Race Day?
No, there will be NO race day packet pick-up.
Is there a gear check?
Gear Check will be available starting at 7:30 AM to 1:00 PM on Saturday morning before the race just South of the Start/Finish line at the west end of the large food tent.
Checked gear bags will be available for pickup after the race at the same location. Bags and markers will be provided for your use. You need to write your race number on the outside of your gear bag. You must have your Race Bib to pick up your bag. Do not put valuables in your gear bag! Please do not give your items to any volunteer except those at Gear Bag Check.
Any unclaimed items will be donated to a charity.
Is there a time limit for each race?
The Half Marathon course will remain open and supported for all participants maintaining a pace of 17 minutes per mile. In addition, there will also be an 8 minute "grace period" to allow everyone this extra time to get across the starting line. This works out to a finishing time limit of 3 hours 51 minutes. To ensure the safety of all participants, any participant not maintaining this pace will be asked to retire from the event and be taken back to the race site on an event vehicle.
Will there be a split mat in the half marathon?
Yes, there will be a 10k split mat.
I'm a walker, can I still participate?
The Indianapolis Half Marathon welcomes all those who can finish in the 3 hour and 51 minute time limit. If you plan on participating but cannot average a 17:00 per mile pace, please be aware that any participant not maintaining this pace will be asked to retire from the event and be taken back to the race site on an event vehicle.
Can I leave the course and come back?
All participants who leave the course will be disqualified.
Will each race be certified?
The Indianapolis Half Marathon and 5k are both USATF certified courses.

What items may I participate with?
Participants WILL NOT be allowed to participate with animals, bicycles, baby joggers, strollers, roller skates, or inline skates and must wear their bibs at all times.
Are people allowed to wear headsets during the run?
For safety purposes, we recommend that people do not wear headsets so they can hear important information along the course.

Do finishers receive a medal?
ALL Finishers in the Half, 5K will receive a finisher's medal.
How can I personalize the back of my medal with my name and finishing time?
The Indianapolis Half Marathon and 5k will have on-site engraving from PR Medal Engravers. Commemorate your achievement on race day with personalized engraving. Pre-purchase when you register online for $15.00 or on race day for $20.00. Pre-purchased orders will be provided to PR Medal Engravers so you can proceed straight from the finish line to have your medal engraved. What is the minimum age requirement for the full and half marathon?
The half marathon requires a minimum age of 10 years old.

How will the starting area and corrals work on race morning?
The Indianapolis Half Marathon and 5k will utilize five starting corrals with a wave start. Your wave assignment will be based on your projected finish time submitted at registration and will be printed onto your race bib. You are allowed to move into a corral farther back from your assigned corral if you would like to start with a person in a different corral. You cannot move forward to a different corral.
To qualify for the preferred start for the A corral, males must be able to run under 1:35 and females must be able to run under 1:45.
Can I have a friend or coach run with me throughout any portion of the event?
No. All participants must be registered and wearing their assigned bib number.
How many restrooms will be available throughout the course?
All aid stations on all courses will provide water, medical personnel, and restroom facilities. Port-o-lets are available at the start and finish lines as well as every aid station along the course. We ask that you please be kind and courteous to the Indianapolis residents and neighborhoods.
Where do I go if I need medical attention during the race?
There will be medical stations available to participants throughout the race course. These stations will be located at the aid stations along the half marathon and 5k courses. There will also be one medical station at the start and finish line. For medical emergencies, an ambulance will be called to transport the participant to a local hospital. The participant is responsible for any medical transportation fees.
IMPORTANT: It is recommended that participants write any medical conditions, medications, allergies, and emergency contacts on the backside of their race bib and wear their race bib at all times during the event.

Could bad weather or other conditions cancel the race?
Extreme weather (lightning, high winds, snow, ice, extreme temperature, etc.) could cancel the race. There are also instances of other emergency situations (power outages, city-wide alerts, etc) that could affect the start/cancellation/continuance of the races. In case of delay or cancellation, immediate notification will be made through IHM Facebook (facebook.com/indianapolishalfmarathon) and Twitter (@IndyHalfand5k) and our website (hometownhalf.com).
What happens if extreme weather happens during the event?
If extreme weather or an emergency situation becomes an issue, the Command Group will meet and determine the status/future of the event. Depending on the situation the event may be delayed or cancelled. Information will be relayed to the Race committee via cell phones/radios. Participants will be notified along the course by course monitors and race officials. Participants will be required to use their best judgment, based on the situation, as to the next best course of action.
If the race is cancelled, will refunds or transfers be allowed?
No, should the event be cancelled due to extreme weather or other emergency, there will be no refunds or transfers.

How can I check my results?
There are many different ways to check your results after you finish. Visit the Results Tent to receive a print out of your finish time and your splits. Results will be listed by finish time and include your overall place and age group place. You may also view your results at www.onlineraceresults.com. If you have questions about your results, please visit the Results Tent during the race or e-mail register@monumentalmarathon.com.
